Planning questions

When it comes to finding the perfect entertainer for your event, it’s tempting to go with who’s trending. But the best entertainers are not merely interested in advancing their own career. They recognize that they are there to serve you and your event goals. Look for an entertainer who prioritizes your event’s purpose and serves your audience, not just the entertainer's ambitions.

Event planners often make two big mistakes:
They chose an entertainer based solely on name recognition rather than alignment of values. It’s sad to say, but I've talked to many planners who told me that they made a mistake with who they last hired and usually it's on the basis of name recognition. The planners hoped the entertainer would provide a show that would not be offensive and they were mistaken.
The next common mistake is choosing an entertainer purely on the basis of affordability. Reality is, affordable doesn’t always mean effective. While budgeting is crucial, don’t let cost be the sole deciding factor when planning entertainment. Choosing a performer just because their fee fits your budget can lead to disappointing results.
Instead, focus on quality, relevance, and alignment with your values.

People usually know when they're coming to a fundraising event that they are going to be asked to invest in the organization or the cause. Providing good entertainment can be a fun surprise. This is especially true when the fundraiser is for a serious or emotionally heavy cause. Entertainment provides comic relief and your guests walk away with the pleasant surprise of not only learning about your cause, but also feeling uplifted and entertained. People are glad they came and donated, while having a fun evening.
Booking Questions
-
A general rule of thumb is booking at least six months in advance. However, I may have an opening even sooner. Give me a call to discuss your event and my availability.
-
Costs vary but do include both travel expenses and an honorarium/performance fee. Give me a call to discuss more in depth.
-
A deposit is required to book your event date. The remainder is due on the day of the performance.
-
I keep my process very simple. It all starts with a phone conversation to discuss availability and terms. I use a simple contract and require a deposit to reserve your date. That’s it! Less hassle upfront means more energy to dedicate to crafting unforgettable experiences for your audience.
-
Can I speak directly with you before finalizing the booking?
Working with David Questions

With over 40 years of experience, it’s safe to say I have performed at every type of event possible. Usually I perform at company or employee appreciation events and dinners, conferences, Christmas parties, comedy fests, fundraisers, banquets, theater shows, and concerts. Churches and ministries bring me in for community outreach events, fundraising galas, prison ministry, college ministry events, and evangelism.

Great entertainers don’t just perform—they adapt to their audience, making each interaction unique and memorable. My act is filled with fun, audience participation elements. Before your event, I take the time to get to know your group, the key personalities and people that everybody would enjoy seeing on stage. Throughout the show, there will be interaction with members of the audience, and I usually invite audience members to join me on stage.
-
I require a space that is well lit, visible, unobstructed and close to the audience. If I'm flying to your event, you’ll need to provide adequate PA/sound and lighting. If I am driving, I can provide some of that. I understand that every event is unique and these are details we will discuss during our call to prevent technical hiccups and ensure a smooth performance.

Over the years, I've gotten to know quite a few talented performers around the country. I'm happy to provide referrals for other performers for future events, or even to add to my show, if you are looking to have multiple performers and a longer presentation.
-
The good news is, my show is pretty self contained. I don't require an entourage of people, other than those who travel with me in suitcases! My wife Lynda often comes along to provide assistance, both at the sound board and to assist me with moving things on and off the stage.

Comedy thrives on interaction, crisp sound, and audience engagement. An unsuitable environment can undermine even the best jokes. This means that outdoor settings can be a challenge because comedy acts have different requirements than other performing acts. While weather is always a concern, even more important is ensuring the venue is free from distractions so that people can hear the jokes and one another laughing. Because of these considerations, I highly recommend hosting a comedy act at an indoor venue. That said, let’s have a conversation about your event, goals and vision.
